A high-level institutional meeting
The lunch was attended by Pablo García Wagner, president of Ahora Perú, who led the day together with the Board of Directors. Among the attendees of greatest institutional relevance was the Vice Minister of Tourism, Nancy Aracelly Laca Ramos, a lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in public policy and more than 14 years dedicated to the promotion of tourism, exports and Peru’s image. District mayors and directors of various tourism industry associations were also present, which underscored the institutional weight of the event.
Ahora Perú in its 86th year: looking inward at the country
In 2026, the association celebrates 86 years of institutional life and faces this anniversary with a full agenda of projects, with special focus on strengthening regional, provincial and district chapters. In line with this decentralizing vision, the day after the lunch, Friday, March 13, the XXII Meeting of the Decentralized Board of Directors of Ahora Perú was held in Callao, with the aim of articulating strategies for sustainable growth of the sector.
The lunch was attended by the presidents of the regional affiliates of Arequipa, Hendry Segovia; Ancash Costa, Miguel Rebaza; Cajamarca, Arturo Collantes; Cusco, Carlos Zevallos, and Huaral, Rosa Elena Balcázar, who represented the territorial diversity of the association.
Recognition of outstanding trajectories in the sector
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of awards to five representatives of the sector for their trajectory and work in favor of the development of hospitality, gastronomy and related activities in Peru.
Erasmo Wong Lu received recognition for his vision and leadership in the creation of the DANSA restaurant, as well as for his support for the development of the tourism sector. Businesswoman Isabel Pareja de Quiñones was recognized for her 60 years of work in favor of strengthening the Peruvian tourism industry.
A posthumous recognition was also given to Ricardo Acosta Rodríguez La Rosa, former president of Apavit, for his contribution to national tourism, a distinction received by his son Rodrigo Acosta. At the business level, the Granja Azul restaurant was recognized for its 75th anniversary and El Rocoto for its 40 years of contribution to Arequipeño and Peruvian gastronomy.
Ahora Perú’s commitment to gaming activities
A notable fact in the composition of the Board of Directors is the presence of Fernando Calderón and José Casapía as directors of Gaming Activities, which reflects Ahora Perú’s integrative vision regarding all segments that make up the hospitality industry in the country, including entertainment and recreation establishments.
The private sector as a pillar of Peruvian tourism
The meeting brought together hotel entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, tour operators and strategic allies of the sector in a day that combined gastronomy, exchange of experiences and institutional strengthening. Among the event sponsors was the support of Costa del Sol Hotels, represented by Mario Mustafá and Sergio Rivas, and the Concepto Placer winery.
Ahora Perú’s Fraternity Lunch is consolidated as one of the most relevant meetings in the national tourism calendar, a space where dialogue between the private sector, industry associations and State authorities continues to be key to charting the course of Peruvian hospitality.
