Regarding Internet connection, the 5G era in different countries allowed for smooth gaming, providing the necessary convenience to continue using mobile applications.

According to PuroMarketing, another key factor was the increase in play-to-learn games, where users could earn money through digital assets, such as cryptocurrencies, tokens, or collectible crypto assets.

A recent study, “Forecast of the global mobile gaming market outlook,” indicated that casual games represented the highest download indicators due to their simplicity of use, requiring less effort, and having short durations. Thus, Among Us, an online multiplayer party game, became the favorite in 2020.

The research also clarified that “in-app purchases have prevailed in the Japanese market, while more than 60% of China’s population prefers free mobile games.”

On the other hand, the “2022 Mobile Gaming Report” informed that, regarding the US and Canadian market, the number of active players in 2021 was 228.7 million, representing a 4% decrease compared to 2020.

The analysis explained that this drop was due to the return to the new normal. That is, people have returned to their pre-pandemic habits, and consequently, out-of-home activities are increasing.

“And as restrictions have eased, we are seeing consumers download fewer new titles in favor of focusing their investment more heavily on the titles they are already playing,” said Mat Piscatella, NPD Mat analyst.

In addition, in Latin America, the number of players and investors in this sector has been increasing since 2019.
